New York Times Admits We’re Right
The failure of the welfare state has become so self-evident that now even the pages of The New York Times is admitting it in this column. Here’s the money line:”This is painful for a liberal to admit, but conservatives have a point when they suggest that America’s safety net can sometimes entangle people in a soul-crushing dependency. Our poverty programs do rescue many people, but other times they backfire.”
Love (Christmas) Wins
Polling from both sides of the aisle confirms that despite the so-called “War on Christmas” waged by the tolerance mob the past few years, the sacred holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ as messiah and savior of the world has survived largely intact. Rasmussen, beloved by conservatives, found that 76% of Americans believe Christmas should be about the birth of Christ and not Santa Claus. Furthermore, 74% of Americans believe Jesus was the Son of God, and 77% believe Jesus rose from the dead. But lest you think I’m merely stacking the deck with friendly data sources, the liberal Public Policy Polling found that a plurality of Americans believe there is a “War on Christmas” and 87% of Americans are celebrating Christmas this holiday season. That compares to just 4% who are celebrating Kwanzaa and 3% celebrating Hanukkah and Festivus. Given these numbers it’s a wonder the tolerance mob has won far too many battles in recent years.
Doomed to Repeat It
This article from Business Insider is almost 8 months old, but given what we’re seeing right now from the ruling class it’s so right on the money it’s worthy of re-posting. Titled Taxes Brought Down the Roman Empire, and They Will Do the Same to America, it takes a look at how wealth re-distribution and a welfare state destroyed the Roman Empire, and the comparisons to what we’re seeing right now in the United States are tough not to notice. Those who have not learned from history are doomed to repeat it.
