Media Hypocrisy?
While the media continues to have a cow over Congressman Todd Akin, the word is mostly mum on a 56-year old Minnesota lawmaker who in July was caught having sex with a 17-year old minor at a rest stop. Democrat leaders in that state are even calling upon Rep. Kerry Gauthier to step down. Yet this is probably the first time most of you reading this have probably ever heard of this story.
2 Good Perspectives on Akin Controversy
This blog does a good job of defining what the real controversy surrounding Todd Akin is really about within the Republican Party, and that is an attempt by the Republican Party leadership to further marginalize pro-lifers and social conservatives. This blog by Bryan Fischer at the American Family Association puts an even finer point on that, pointing the blame for this controversy on ruling class Republicans where it belongs.
A Pro-Life Warrior in Action
Michigan Attorney Rebecca Kiessling is one of America’s true pro-life warriors. Conceived in rape, Kiessling has become one of the country’s most effective proponents of personhood, or the idea of protecting life from the moment it begins. Last night she appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan program with notorious feminist attorney Gloria Allred to discuss the Akin controversy. If you want to know what a true pro-life warrior in action looks like, read the transcript here. If there’s one good thing to come from Akin’s gaffe, it’s the opportunity it has provided folks like Kiessling to stand for truth.
