Steve, you really need to be careful when you brag about how the gays have never won when the issue of gay marriage has never been put up to a public vote.

Because, while you might be right, what happens when they gays do win one?

I am on your side but I just don’t want you to be caught unaware of a situation happening in Washington State.

In 2009 they passed so called “Civil Unions”.   A successful attempt was made to put that issue on the fall ballot (Ref 71) BUT when the public voted the pro-civil Union people WON!

Well  you might say that’s just civil Unions and you meant gay marriage. Well, as part of the whole civil Unions fight in 2009 the gays went to court and got them to release the names of the people who signed that referendum back then.  Then then preceded to harass the citizens who had DARED signed that referendum putting the issue up to a vote. People were threatened with lost of their job and such.

Fast forward to today.  Washington State is about to vote for actual GAY MARRIAGE. It had already passed the Senate with some important help from some of the Republicans. All indication is that it will be passed through the House and the Governor will of course sign it as she is an extreme Leftist.

But yeah, someone could file an Referendum to put the issue in front of the public, and that is where you say the issue always fails.

BUT it is already a legal Precedent that signitures for Referendum is public information. And given how people were harassed in 2009 when it was “merely” Civil Unions how many people do you think is going to sign this referendum knowing the harassment it is going to lead to? Are they willing to lose their job, given this economy? Are they willing to put their personal safety on the line? You know the gays and the lengths they can go to. It got very nasty in 2009 when again, the issue then was Civil Unions.

It is my belief therefore such an attempt to place this on the ballot will not be successful.  But say I am wrong (I am not)  there has not been a measure dealing with homosexuality when it has gone on Washington State General election ballot say in the last 20 years that hasn’t in the end gone for the gays.

But that was not gay Marriage you can say. That would turn out differently you might say..okay, well here is another thing you don’t know about Washington State. We are pretty corrupt here.  Our elections get determined by what happens in King County (Seattle).  You might as well say Cook country because that is what its the equivalent of. 

That Governor I was talking about. She didn’t win her first election. No the Republican beat her. Well at first. Then they counted again..Republican still won.  It was only the THIRD time the voters were counted that they had “found” enough votes to declare her the winner.  Throughout the election in the King County elections bureau they kept on “Finding” votes that hadn’t been counted, you know like in someone’s desk or in the closet and such.

So, even if Gay Marriage doesn’t get enough votes, King County will FIND enough votes.  That’s if it gets to a public vote, which as I said previously it won’t because of people’s fears of personal reprisals if they dare sign a Referendum to put it on the ballot.

So, Gay Marriage will be the Law in Washington State.  The Gays will break their losing streets on the banks of Elliot Bay.

I don’t like it any more than you, Steve.  This is merely a heads up.
