A RINO Exposes the GOP Establishment Scam

By Steve Deace

Yesterday I wrote about why I believe the Republican Party establishment isn’t as stupid as people think, but really far more sinister. They fully intend on reducing the influence of grassroots conservatives/libertarians in the party by overcoming them with an influx of more “government Americans.”

To prove my point, I enter into evidence Gabriel Gomez, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts.

By all accounts Gomez is the poster-child for what the Republican Party establishment says must be done to win elections. He is the Hispanic son of former immigrants with an impressive bio. He’s a former Navy SEAL with an elite education as a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy as well as the Harvard School of Business. So he’s a minority who was an elite soldier and was also Ivy League educated. But that’s not all. He’s also what a lot of conservatives would describe as a RINO.

Gomez is a former Obama supporter. He lobbied former Democrat Gov. Deval Patrick for a statewide appointment. He didn’t support Republican Scott Brown in the special election there after Ted Kennedy’s death, but supported a Democrat instead. Gomez also opposes marriage and supports homosexuality, opposes the Second Amendment, supports scamnesty, and claims to be pro-life while at the same time saying the matter is settled because of Roe v. Wade (where have we heard that before from a Massachusetts Republican).

Gomez is a non-white Republican with an All-American bio, and has no policy positions that will offend the liberal media the Republican Party establishment fears more than Almighty God. According to polls he is also within striking distance of his Democrat opponent in the bluest of blue states. So obviously the Republican Party establishment is emptying its wallets to help one of their own poster-children, right?

Not so fast.

This article over at Breitbart News says that is not the case. Instead of proving to those of us in the grassroots skeptical of their true motives that they really do mean what they say about the necessity to win no matter what, Breitbart News says Gomez is currently being outspent 4-to-1.

What gives?

I thought we had to reach out to Hispanics, and couldn’t possibly risk offending them no matter what? I thought they held the key to the Republican Party’s future? What would offend Hispanics more than shunning one of their own running for U.S. Senate?

If there was ever a candidate for the GOP establishment to get behind, and shove down on our throats as to why we in the grassroots are out of touch with reality, it would be Gomez.

So why aren’t they? There’s a few possible answers to that question, and none of them are good.
