Who can beat Obama?

If you’re one of those folks who thinks primaries are about finding “the winner” then today’s daily diatribe is for you. Deace discusses the four things he believes the next Republican presidential nominee must have in order to beat Barack Obama in 2012.

  • Ryan

He has not and probably will not throw his hat in Paul Ryan from Wisconsin.

I agree with most of your assessment. Money and building coalitions will be very important. As far as #3 and #4, I hope you are giving Obama too much credit, and at the same time, holding our electorate in pretty low regard (may be total depravity coming through). Are we to expect the same voter behavior in ’12 as in ’08? I’d like to believe that ideology will play a bigger role than charisma and personal life story in the next election. It certainly will with Tea Party folks – the wild card in ’12.

Let’s not forget that the +12 change in the electoral college to ’08 GOP states may make the task easier. The GOP could potentially win by flipping one less swing state.

Final prediction: we will, yet again, have a record number of third party votes.
