In our update yesterday, I referred to Pawlenty’s Council on Foreign Relations speech where he called members of his own party “isolationists.” Yesterday, Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren asked him to name who they were. In shades of the New Hampshire GOP debate when he declined to confront Romney head-on after mocking him in an interview days before, Pawlenty punted.
In a press conference yesterday, Tim Pawlenty says that the goverment shutdown happening in his state of Minnesota “can be a good thing.” It happened before when he was governor in 2005–and it ended when he capitulated on a “cigarette fee.” Now, he says, he should have let it go longer. Hindsight is 20/20 . . . especially on the campaign trail.
