The Case for Ron Paul

by Andrew J. Isker

Why should a Christian vote for Ron Paul?

Normally the stock response to such a question by most politicians pandering to Christians is:

“He’s 100% Pro-life.”

Yes, of course, Ron Paul is pro-life. And while defending the lives of our (unborn) neighbors is of the utmost importance when more than one million a year are legally slaughtered, there is even more that ought to weigh heavily on the Christian’s heart.

Pro-life is not enough.

If a child escapes the womb without being torn limb-from-limb, he inherits a massive share of debt, a money supply rapidly decreasing in value, an economy devastated by Federal-Reserve-created booms and busts, and a government that will lord over every aspect of his life.

Most of us grew up believing that the United States Government existed to protect our rights, to preserve our freedoms. After the financial crisis of 2008, with so-called “too big to fail” banks receiving trillions of dollars in public (and secret) bailouts, whatever naiveté we once had about our government was gone. Most of us now see a government so large, so powerful, and so corrupt, that we know, among the ruling class, defending the rights and freedoms of the people is secondary, at best, to their own personal, political, and financial gain. How much does our own situation parallel the prophet Isaiah’s denunciation of Jerusalem:

How the faithful city has become a whore, she who was full of justice! Righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers. Your silver has become dross, your best wine mixed with water. Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves. Everyone loves a bribe and runs after gifts. They do not bring justice to the fatherless, and the widow’s cause does not come to them. (Isaiah 1:21-23 ESV)

Our once-Christian nation has been ravaged by a holocaust of legally-sanctioned murder.

Righteousness lodged in her, but now murderers.

Our money supply is inflated by the trillion by the Federal Reserve.

Your silver has become dross.

Our leaders are not restrained by the Constitution nor rule of law. They pass tyrannical bills like Obamacare, spy on their citizens, molest grandmothers at airports, and go to war without any authority to do so.

Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves.

Our government regulates and destroys, all at the behest of those too big to fail.

Everyone loves a bribe and runs after gifts.

The welfare state has made many perpetually poor, either through dependence upon it or the onerous tax burden required to fund it.

They do not bring justice to the fatherless, and the widow’s cause does not come to them.

A government as powerful and corrupt as this is already a threat to the life, liberty, and property of our neighbors. How much longer will it be, before it becomes an enemy to the preaching of the gospel? Such manifest wickedness should deeply concern Christians and cause them to cry out for someone who will bring true change to such a godless society.

Ron Paul stands for such radical change. He advocates that states immediately nullify Roe v. Wade, which he believes is their right under the 10th Amendment, and a right he will enforce as president. He supports abolishing legal tender laws, thus ending the Federal Reserve’s destruction of our wealth and the boom/bust cycles it enables. He favors ending the income tax, that odious Progressive weapon of wealth and family destruction. He stands for restraining the Federal Government strictly within the Constitution, which means: a repeal of Obamacare, an end to the TSA, a restoration of the 4th Amendment (i.e. a repeal of the Patriot Act), and an end to all unconstitutional wars.

His budget plan calls for the end of five cabinet-level departments, and more than a trillion dollars cut from the Federal Budget, all within the first year. On foreign policy, he is favors restoring that great inheritance of Christendom: Just War Theory. Our sons and daughters will no longer die on foreign battlefields for the anti-Christian, Progressive dream of “making the world safe for democracy” and nation building.

Contrary to popular belief, he favors an overall improvement in our support of the nation of Israel: by cutting all foreign aid, which brings to an end our aid of Israel’s enemies (which is greater by ten-fold than our aid to Israel), and allowing Israel to conduct her own foreign policy, without asking the United States for permission. Upholding Israeli sovereignty, as he did in the House when he refused to condemn their 1981 attack on Iraq’s nuclear facility (unlike Newt Gingrich), has been a long standing position for Paul. What’s more, he has stood for these things for decades, rather than adopting positions as often as people change their socks. He tells people the truth, always, no matter how unpopular or politically un-pragmatic that may be; as in, when he accurately predicted the financial meltdown of 2008 on the House floor in 2003!

With Ron Paul, these are not just empty platitudes, or talking points that can be easily forgotten (even by the candidates themselves). These are heartfelt commitments – causes Dr. Paul has dedicated his life to. It is his, and our, Christian duty to protect and defend the life, liberty, and property of our neighbors. Please recognize this duty, and please consider supporting him.

2012 Is About Abolishing Slavery In America
We’re on the verge of abolishing slavery in America.
Ron Paul’s aim is to abolish the debt slavery & tax bondage of the FED/IRS Complex.
Over the last 100 years of slavery we have gradually lost most of what America set out to be, do and have.
We are not free. We are slaves.
Force people to put aside all of the non-essential issues and focus on abolishing slavery.
    Let’s start there.
Our first priority is to regain our liberty, peace and prosperity.
This is the narrative, the context for all of my campaign communications with others. It shuts down all of the nattering and competitiveness over the flavor-of-the-month candidates.
No other candidate is cognizant of, or focused on abolishing the crushing debt slavery and tax bondage as a social issue.
Without our liberty, nothing else matters.
None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I believe that Americans are tired of all the WARS and LIES.

Ron Paul has been speaking TRUTH to POWER for 35 years.

It is time for this Great Nation to Change Course!

    Please do the right thing…

Vote for PEACE, LIBERTY and PROSPERITY.

Beautiful article about a man of true integrity, consistency, strong principles & moral values, and always the Champion of the Constitution & our civil liberties.   Our active military donates more than twice as much to Ron Paul as all of the other candidates combined, which shows huge and strong support for his foreign policy.  That he always tells the American people the truth is so refreshing that it makes me grin everytime his bold truth makes a panderer squirm.
He is the right candidate exactly when we need him.   I just made another donation to the Ron Paul campaign, and will do so again on the 16th.
Iowans, I hope you will support this great statesman.  I live in the area, a mile from his district, which includes the town where I grew up.  This was a heavily democratic district, and he won them over in the 90′s, beating back an unsuccessful plot by Gingrich to stop him.  Since then, Ron Paul has won every re-election run by huge landslides ( 65-80% of the vote ) because he tells the truth, always does the right thing, always votes Constitutionally, and always does what he says he will do.   His fierceness standing up to the corrupt in the FED and our government is a thing of beauty to behold.
I urge you to support Ron Paul for our next President in 2012.   He can beat Obama.                   We can trust him.
    RON PAUL 2012

Also Jesus said “Blessed are the peace makers” Ron Paul IS the peacemaker.    All other candidates support torture and war.  They are all Satanic.

Here are my five reasons Christians should vote for Ron Paul. . .
The Constitution — Ron Paul will uphold his vows to the Constitution.Liberty — Ron Paul will help reverse our enslaving faith in the State. The Economy — Ron Paul will protect personal property, overturn legalized plunder, and stop deficit spending.Foreign Policy — Ron Paul is not a meddler in the affairs of other nations.  He is for peace and commerce with other nations.Integrity — Ron Paul is a faithful man. When you consider all that’s wrong with government these days, Ron Paul is really the perfect candidate.  He’s got exactly what we need.David

The problem for me is that I do not feel confident that if a state voted to allow abortion that Ron Paul would stand up to them and tell them that they can’t. When you use the 10th amendment to justify that abortion can be done away with, then you are at the mercy of the states. It’s the exact same thing if you depend on the Supreme Court for your justification. If you use other amendments to the constitution, you can do that same thing without risking abortion still coming through law.

Also, when you are totally fine with a person such as Iran having nukes and you don’t think that they pose a threat to us, that makes me very worried. Ron Paul has this idea that if we don’t give money to everyone, we have trade with everyone, and we don’t decleare war on anyone, then we’ll be perfectly fine and no one will hate us. As we can see, that’s always worked perfectly well for us ….

I will say, if we end up with a general election between Romney and Obama, I’ll probably write in vote Ron Paul, as we will need to ctrl + alt + delete button at that point for sure.

    • Subvet

I would ask you one question, if you live in a state that votes for abortion will you continue to live there or will you vote with your feet and move. Until we bring back rule of law we will never end this modern form of slavery and we will never last as a nation. We as a nation have not had the debate that I believe that we should have had back in the seventies, and that is the debate over when does life begin, until we settle that argument we will never settle the abortion issue

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1247616156 Jared Mills

Would you allow states to vote on slavery? Is not the issue of life much more important than that even?

        • Dave

Let’s not forget that Paul as several times introduced the Sanctity of Life Act and the We the People Act in the US Congress as a means to outlaw abortion. He’s fighting the battle on multiple fronts: at the state level, at the federal level, and in the courts by trying to remove their jurisdiction. I’ve never understood this idea that he’s somehow not pro-life enough.

Regarding Iran: I don’t see the logic in being so fearful of a 3rd world nation that has no military of note and still doesn’t have even one nuclear weapon. Kennedy used diplomacy with the USSR when they had nukes 90 miles from our shore. Reagan talked with the USSR, too, even after they said they would bury us and actually had the ability to do so. Diplomacy has worked in the past with far more menacing threats. Why are we so eager to abandon that action before it’s even been tried?

On slavery: it would have ended sooner if the Federal government and the courts hadn’t interfered with things like the Fugitive Slave Act and the Dred Scott Decision. Those things forced the free states to participate in and basically subsidize slavery and thus allowed slavery to last much longer than morality and economics would have otherwise dictated.

        • Subvet

you did not read what I wrote you just reacted, we have had the debate on slavery and we as a nation said no. we have not had the debate on life.

        • http://www.onlinebusinesshour.com Adam Saverian

Hello McFly, the states DID vote on slavery. Not only individually, but also in order to pass the 13th amendment, which had to be ratified by the states before it was passed. It took 10 years for that to happen.

If the power isn’t granted to congress it belongs to the states.

    • neocontrotsky

“we have trade with everyone, and we don’t decleare war on anyone, then
we’ll be perfectly fine and no one will hate us. As we can see, that’s
always worked perfectly well for us ….”

You mean like when both Washington and Jefferson said, “Peaceful trade with all, entangling alliances with none” as to what our foreign policy should be after watching Europe bankrupt itself with perpetual war and strong alliances?

Yes, that did work out very well for us when we actually did it.  When we began our Wilsonian interventionist foreign policy — the same guy who brought us the groundwork for the UN, the income tax, and the Fed — in Europe during and after WW1 it directly led to WW2 and the rise of Nazi Germany.  When FDR intervened in Japan’s affairs by blocking their access to oil and freezing their assets, they responded in the same way we would if China did that today.

Our constant intervention in the middle east with the overthrow of governments and installation of brutal dictators like in Iran who do very un-Christ like things to stay in power, invasion of and occupation of muslim areas, support of puppet regimes like in Egypt, etc. finally stirred up enough of a hornet’s nest for a response.  The CIA recognizes this and has a term it refers to it as “blowback” — the response to our foreign policy intervention abroad.  Paul Wolfowitz recognizes this as well, which is why he said the following about removing US troops from Saudi Arabia:

“Their presence there over the last 12
years has been a source of enormous difficulty for a friendly
government. It’s been a huge recruiting device for al Qaeda. In
fact if you look at bin Laden, one of his principle (sic) grievances was
the presence of so-called crusader forces on the holy land, Mecca and
Medina. I think just lifting that burden from the Saudis is itself going
to open the door to other positive things.”

I am always amazed at how conservative types who understand that government intervention in things like health care lead to drastic and unexpected negative side effects, but expect the same clowns who brought us Fast and Furious to be able to handle extremely complex intervention in foreign lands where the culture, history, and variables involved are radically different from our own without major negative unintended consequences!

  • Hawkizrok

Ron Paul is has proven to be a true conservative and will do what he says.  No Flip flop with this guy.  Newt and Mitt are RINO’s.

  • Matt

Ron Paul’s biblical worldview is not perfect. In fact, it has lots of holes (like most of us). However, Ron Paul the man is a near perfect example of biblical manhood I have ever seen. He is a leader, a dedicated father, a faithful husband, and has communicated his faith and values by example to ALL of his children– who walk after him. One son (Rand) even surpassing him. I do not agree with everything Ron Paul the politician believes. But I gladly submit and support Ron Paul the MAN and hope to God that I reach his years and accomplishments with my own family.

  • JoelKurtinitis

Note on the pro-life issue: Ron Paul also supports federal legislation defining life as at conception, as well as a personhood amendment to the US Constitution – debunking the myth that he believes states’ rights trump inalienable rights.

    • Ignosio

Let me first say that I like Ron Paul, but he has said that “Very early pregnancies and victims of rape can be treated with the day
after pill, which is nothing more than using birth control pills in a
special manner. These very early pregnancies could never be policed,
regardless. Such circumstances would be dealt with by each individual
making his or her own moral choice.” He is saying that he will do nothing to protect the lives of the smallest, innocent human beings. http://www.dailypaul.com/180123/can-no-longer-support-ron-paul-morning-after-pill

if roe v wade was repealed the vote would go to the states anyway
a ron paul presidency is a WIN in the fight against abortion.
WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE 3 or 4 states where abortion was legal
than an entire country? don’t believe the hype, its better to save some
when you can than to loose many and continue to flap our gums and
    save none.

Ron Paul is the elder statesman whose experience, integrity, honesty, common sense, and education put him head and shoulders above the rest. America needs a man of principle now more than ever, and may God bless those who are looking out for others more so than themselves.

  • hatefalseweight

Christians should read about the civil war in Israel in Judges 19.  Israel is just as bad morally today as it was then with all the abortion, gay marriage, 100s of brothels in Tel Aviv, which proudly proclaims it is the most gay-friendly city in the world.  America and Israel are as bad as Sodom and the antediluvians,  and we are facing horrific repercussions for the sin and bloodshed on their soil.  The Anglo-American – Israeli globalists are not defending anything – they are setting up the Luciferian NWO based on a one world digital financial system and world army / enforcement complex.  Ron Paul is the only candidate who even remotely grasps what is going on in the world today.

  • Lori

The truth of the matter is that his stance on abortion has been misconstrued.  He is the author and co-author of most pro-life bills for over 20 years.  He first tried to get through a federal law that would have put the unborn under the protection of the constitution which would have ended abortion in our entire nation.  The Republican Party has been more concerned about keeping abortion on the table and legal so that it can keep getting used to elect and re-elect Republicans thinking they are going to end it.  So his bills never got enough support. That is the sick absolute TRUTH.  Dr. Paul is the MOST pro-life candidate possibly in our history.  When the federal route could not get support year after year, THEN he tried bills going the other approach hoping that it could get through that way, at least then some states could end it and start saving babies sooner.  Everyone seems to have twisted his stance.  He is an OB Doctor that has tried his ENTIRE career to try to save unborn babies!!!
In fact, he had 2 conditions that any intern and Doctor had to agree to BEFORE they could work in his practice:
    1) NEVER to perform an abortion.  2) If a Medicaid or Medicare patient needed care, that they were to be treated for FREE with the same dignity as any of the other patients as he would NOT allow one penny to come into the practice from government subsidized healthcare.

After explaining all this, I pray that you will do the right thing for all of our nation and vote for the man that is so humble that he has a hard time tooting his own horn as he is a REAL Christian instead of trying to brag to impress Men.

  • Saveamerica4u

He has tried through the years every legal approach possible to start saving lives of the unborn.  Here is an example back in 2003 where he introduced 3 different pro-life bills in one day.  http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/912300/posts

I really wish in these articles posted for the Good Doctor, i wish they would highlight his predictions and foresight into the future of the economy.  His speech on the house floor in 2001 (I think it was the week before 9/11) about the housing bubble, the derivatives market, the FED, Fannie & Freddie, is truly amazing!  Everyone should watch this video!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KONpt9a6HrI&feature=related

Please watch this video and share it! (I know it’s a lot of economic jargon, but Ron Paul explains in great detail in 2001 exactly what happens in 2007 & 2008)

  • Fiddlerpaul

Nice to see this on Steve’s website.  Perhaps a new appreciation for the wisdom of this man.

  • Mikewest

As for me and my vote, I will gladly support Dr.
Ron Paul because he truly reflects the highest Biblical standards when choosing
    civil leaders.

    “Moreover thou shalt
provide out of all the people able men,
such as fear God, men of truth, hating coveteousness…” (Ex. 18:21 ).
    Top of
    Form
“Take you wise men, and understanding, and known
among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.” (Deut. 1:13 ).

    Looking
over his consistent 30 year record of true Christian statesmanship, there is no
one else that even comes close.

It is a 13-part video series titled The Bible & Ron Paul, comparing Paul’s platform to biblical principles for government: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0E27AFB852E14B16. Please send to any Christians you know who are on the fence about Paul.

I was reading about this man for this first time, and his stand on gun ownership draws my attention, first why did it post…” As president I will defend our God-given right to carry assault weapons…. which God advocates the use of mass murdering machines?  I grew up in a Catholic environment, so I know this isn’t a Christian thing.

    • Fiddlerpaul

It’s one thing to give people the right to carry weapons (liberty and a defense against a totalitarian state rising up) and giving people the actual right to kill.  Denying the right to arms is a simple method the state can use to make sure the people are kept down. It all gets back to valuing liberty and the protection of individual property as being spiritual foundations and not negotiable.  All equal and all responsible.  It’s as constitutional as it gets and differentiates America from many other countries.
