Please watch out for Perry. He is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

#1 Rick Perry is a “big government” politician. When Rick Perry became
the governor of Texas in 2000, the total spending by the Texas state
government was approximately $ 49 billion. Ten years later it was
approximately $ 90 billion. That is not exactly reducing the of
    government.

Rick Perry also has a track record of more than ten  years as
Governor to define himself, and many Texas tea partiers find him lacking
in areas that matter most to them.

Here are some specific examples they cite:

Immigration reform – Governor Perry said
that Arizona’s controversial SB 1070 was  “not right for Texas.”  His
positions on sanctuary cities and in-state tuition for illegals have
    also been problematic.

Fiscal responsibility – Governor Perry recently “gave away” the state’s “Rainy Day Fund” without even putting up a fight.

Education – The State Board of Education
has long been a target for liberals because of the nationwide influence
of the textbook selections made by the State of Texas.   Governor Perry
refused to join the recent textbook fight, in which the proponents of
returning to a more traditional constitutionalist view of America
opposed those who favor a more revisionist left-wing view.

Practical Politics – Since the explosion of
the Tea Party movement in Texas, there has been an all-out war within
the Texas GOP between the liberals and the conservatives.  Perry has had
every opportunity to step in and side with the conservatives, but he
refuses to take a stand. In Texas today, the most powerful political
person in the state is House Speaker Joe Straus, a man who follows a
very left wing liberal agenda. Governor Perry has done nothing to stop
    that agenda.

Steve these are great, but I really wish I could download this to my own player offline.  If this possible it’s not particularly obvious to me on this page!

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2011/07/rick-perry-categorizes-abortion-as-a-states-rights-issue.html

Despite holding personal pro-life beliefs, Texas Gov. Rick Perry
categorized abortion as a states’ rights issue today, saying that if Roe
    v. Wade was overturned, it should be up to the states to decide the
    legality of the procedure.

In May of 2001, Governor Perry signed House Bill 1403. This legislation
allowed illegal aliens who graduate from a Texas public high school to
attend a Texas college at the in state tuition rate.

In 2001, Governor Perry vetoed legislation that passed through both the
state House and Senate with wide support. The measure would have changed
Texas law to allow the Department of Public Safety to accept whatever
it deems appropriate as valid identification to receive a driver’s
license. Proponents claimed that a driver’s license represents knowledge
of motor vehicle rules and not proof of citizenship or valid
    immigration status.

In January of 2004, Governor Perry released a press statement noting his support for a guest worker plan put forth by President Bush.

Perry CAVED on using the state Rainy Day fund earlier this year!

Isn’t that supposed to be his strength? The economy.

Earlier he said he wasn’t going to dip into the Rainy Day fund.

Reminds me of “read my lips no new taxes” (and then later on he did raise taxes).

Gov. Rick Perry Signed Pro-Homosexual ‘Hate Crimes’ Bill into Law in Texas

More than $17 million of the $83 million Perry has raised since
2001 during his governorship came from people he appointed to state
boards, commissions and agencies or their spouses, according to the
report by the nonprofit Texans for Public Justice.

Surely conservatives can’t  support that.  Isn’t that just Washington DC type Business As Usual that tea partiers are supposed to be against?

Also when you look at his support for the NAFTA superhighway and the Gardisil incident you see a lot of political favors there too.

Rick Perry was responsible for the anti TSA bill dying.

Political Cronyism seems to be BIG with Perry.

Yeah, I know all politicians do it to one extent and another.

But Perry does it more than most.

Willingham’s case gained renewed attention in 2009 when an investigative report in The New Yorker,[1]
drawing upon arson investigation experts and advances in fire science
since the 1992 investigation suggested that the evidence for arson was
unconvincing, and that had this information been available at the time
of trial, Mr. Willingham would have been acquitted.

According to an August 2009 investigative report by an expert hired by the Texas Forensic Science Commission, the original claims of arson were doubtful;[2]
the Corsicana Fire Department disputes the findings, stating that the
expert’s report overlooked several key points in the record. The case
has been further complicated by allegations[3] that Governor of Texas Rick Perry
has impeded the investigation by replacing three of the nine Commission
members in an attempt to change the Commission’s findings; Perry denies
    the charges.

    This is a tough one.

But I think you have a point about the coverup.  It’s really like Nixon.

And it’s baggage that the Left can make hay with.

Perhaps his actions wouldn’t seem so bad if he didn’t use that political maneuver. There are times for political maneuvers but not when a guy’s life is at stake.

    http://caucuses.desmoinesregister.com/2011/07/29/i-want-to-be-on-rick-perrys-team-if-he-runs-nw-iowa-conservative-david-johnson-says/

An opinion leader in deeply conservative northwest Iowa, state Sen. David Johnson, has decided to endorse Texas Gov. Rick Perry if he runs for president

Johnson, who backed Massachusetts’ Mitt Romney four years ago, had said he was going to sit out endorsing any candidate this election cycle unless someone really inspired him.

He has settled on his guy.

Although Perry has yet to jump into the race, Johnson thinks he almost certainly will.

“And I want to be on the team if that happens,” he told The Des Moines Register tonight.

    ——

Steve, I hope you are really, really carefully venting Rick Perry.  He REALLY isn’t who he claims to be.  Remember how we were all tricked by George Bush.  And I am not comparing Rick Perry to George Bush.  Rick Perry is much, much worse.

Rick Perry seems conservative because he comes from a conservative state. But even there he more often was a impediment against conservative policies than an advocate.

Sure the guy can tickle our ears with talk of secession.  But remember this is the guy who promoted giving toll roads in the state of Texas over to a Spanish company.  The way he does things is sleazy too.  Sure all politicians pay off their political friends but he seems to do it more than most.

Rick Perry will absolutely destroy the conservative movement.
