Michele Bachmann Update: Target on Her Back

Life isn’t easy with a target on your back. Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is feeling the heat of being the new GOP frontrunner in Iowa. Just as they did with Sarah Palin in 2007 and 2008, the media has been dispatched in droves to uncover the “dirty” secrets in her past and the skeletons in her closet. The liberal media is going after her husband’s Christian counseling clinics for taking Medicaid money AND for taking “controversial” (read: Christian) stands on homosexuality.

Fellow Republicans are going after her for a “nonexistent” record or being “inexperienced,” not being “constitutional” enough, for signing this pledge but not signing that pledge.

And the real desperate media is writing articles about how many times her campaign or office has called the police or filed reports.

So far, Iowans seem undaunted by the press. The Des Moines Register released the American Research Group numbers yesterday and Bachmann sits at the top comfortably with 21%. It is interesting to note, though, that a good 10% of those polled are still undecided.

    Bachmann is the one who “needs to go negative”. Otherwise people will not get past “leaning mode” and not commit to her.
    And why should they if she isn’t willing to commit fully to the campaign by eliminating any chance (not that there was any chance to begin with) of being Romney’s running mate.  We need to know she will take on the establishment and Romney is the establishment. If she isn’t gong to be able to take on Romney then say if she became President how would she take on RINO republicans who might stand in the way of her agenda. And if her agenda has in it all is what will save America then we know from past experience that there will be RINOS there to oppose it. McLame to name one of them. If she can’t fight Romney, if she is willing to get nasty against him when what will she do when McCain goes up against her in some policy battle?  Cave?
    So, Michelle Take the Kill Shot or go home!
    Or are you really part of the Republican establishment after all?

    She will never get the nomination, so going negative, or having “balls” doesn’t matter. Jen – a “controversial” stand on homosexuality (read:Christian) is baloney! As Ari Fleisher and Matthew Dowd said over the past 2 days on TV, America will not elect someone who is so prejudiced, for president.

    You can’t rail against government subsidies, and then accept medicare, and farm subsidies. She wants to abolish Social Security, Medicare, the EPA, the Education Dept, the Commerce Dept, IRS, Federal Reserve, SEC. She said “we’re running out of rich people in this country” and introduced a bill in Congress to make sure that we don’t adopt the yuan as our official currency, because she didn’t understand China’s comments regarding the US dollar’s economic role as a reserve currency.

    That is all facts – you can check for yourself. Is that a skeleton? Or just plain being dumb?You can characterize the media as being desperate, but she has created every story. She compounds it when she refuses to answer questions from the press. That gives all these story’s legs, because she refuses to speak to the press, or own her past behavior.

    In her 3 terms in Congress, in the 110th Congress she introduced 17 bills, and one was passed – and that was a resolution H.RES.923  to congratulate Minnesota for it’s 150th birthday. In the 111th Congress, she introduced 22 bills – and one was passed. That was a resolution H.RES.373 recognizing the month of September as national water on the brain (Hydrocephalus) awareness month. I wish I was making this stuff up. In the current Congress, she has introduced 7 bills, and so far none have passed.

    If you want to write a puff piece, that’s cool. Rick Perry will make it official soon, and watch what happens to her numbers. Will that be because of Rick Perry? Or will it be because the great people of Iowa woke up? You be the judge. I’ll say it’s both.
