Herman Cain Update: Struggling?

By Jen Green

Herman Cain lost two of his campaign staffers at the end of last week, one a regional field director and one was his lone New Hampshire staff. Both men state the diplomatic “differences in strategy” reasons. Cain has struggled to regain steam after less than stellar performances in Pella, Iowa, and in the New Hampshire GOP debate.

I once said that the day I saw a politician give a one word answer would be the day dead pigs flew upside down. I’ve actually heard Herman Cain do it once in Pella, Iowa, and he did it again recently in an interview. When asked why he refused to sign the Susan B. Anthony List’s pro-life pledge, he said one word: “Advance.” According to Cain, the President cannot advance legislation. You decide if that’s the case or not.

Try reading Article 1, Section 1 of the Constitution. The answer is NO, a president cannot advance legislation.

Umm well lets look at ObamaCare…. Who spent a good part of a full year pushing this legislation – and with the results he wanted?

That’s no reason to act just like Obama does! Then we’re all corrupt and ignore the rule of law! Obamacare will be recognized for the piece of trash it was.

We can ignore the bully pulpit that a president has but it doesn’t change the fact that he has a bully pulpit. Only Congress can advance legislation, fine but it doesn’t mean that a president just sits back and doesn’t say a word about this legislation. If he likes it, he will push for it, if he doesn’t like it he will say he is against it. What that means is if he doesn’t like it, he will veto it and that means the Congress will have to have enough votes to override it.

I do not know what is unconstitutional about it that the lawyer Bachmann didn’t catch.

Cain has said more than once that he would promote, support, and sign the bill. But only Congress can advance legislation. He asked them to change the unconstitutional wording and they refused. He was right not to sign it.
