This Sunday, June 24th, our very own Steve Deace will debut as the new columnist for The Des Moines Register. Deace will write a weekly column for his homestate’s largest newspaper that will alternate between Saturdays and Sundays each weekend.
Deace, who also writes for Townhall.com and Conservative Action Alerts, and has also written for World Net Daily and The Washington Times, will focus this column primarily on local news and news-makers. The column will be in addition to his other national work on his radio program, this website, and several other media platforms he contributes to.
“I am excited about this opportunity, because it gives me a chance to again have a bigger platform to specifically address local issues again in the community I am raising my children in, while at the same time it allows me to continue to pursue the goals we have for our syndicated show,” Deace said. ”If all goes well, the Republicrats in my home-state will wish I’d never been born in no time. I look forward to all the haters who will tell me this platform is irrelevant while at the same time reading what I write every week. Just remember, even in the Des Moines Register if you have to ask it’s about you.”
Register Opinions Page Editor Randy Evans is excited about Deace’s addition.
“Whether you agree with him or not, and whether you consider yourself conservative, liberal or in between, you can count on Steve to challenge your views and stimulate your thinking,” Evans said.
Deace began his media career as a news assistant in the Register sports department back in 1994 before leaving to pursue a radio career in 2000. His nightly nationally-syndicated radio show debuted on December 5th, 2011.
