By Steve Deace
A majority of Americans believe their country is in decline.
The Constitution is in tatters.
The economy is in dire shape.
Government schools are failing.
The budget is morbidly obese.
Marriage is under attack.
Life at its most nascent stage is being slaughtered.
The nation continues to drift further and further away from the Biblical morality that once was the norm.
What does a so-called “Christian leader” do in such times of trial and tumult? The answer is clear—he sends out snarky emails to his staffers.

This is a great day with the news that this jerk is now off the airwaves. Please notice the post that says that Deace’s slandering IFFC and me might have been his undoing. Steve Scheffler
If Mr. Scheffler believes he’s been slandered by me by all means I pray he files a lawsuit, for that is a discovery process I would greatly enjoy partaking of. On the other hand, it’s interesting that he accuses me of slandering him while at the same time he’s helping to spread false rumors and gossip about me.
Pot, meet kettle. Kettle, meet pot.

EVERYONE:
What an insult!!! They want us to put our name on this and they take all the credit. I am so sick of Bob and his cronies!
Steve
This email was in response to an invitation from Danny Carroll at The Family Leader to take part in a Marriage Rally at the Statehouse. Alongside Bob Vander Plaats, who is the “Bob” Scheffler is likely referring to, was slated to be State Senator Kent Sorenson, Reverend Keith Ratliff, and Pastor Cary Gordon. No word on whether or not they consider themselves to be one of Bob’s “cronies” or men who think for themselves.

I wish someone would pay me $500/day to drive around the state and tell people what they already know. When will that position be opening?

Isn’t that the truth—Bob should run for King of the Universe! I sure that he dreams about it every night and is now planning on who will serve the King in Royal Fashion!
Steve
This email exchange between Mr. Scheffler and one of his staffers was in response to a fundraising email sent out by Bob Vander Plaats of The Family Leader. It’s a good thing Scheffler and his group work for free and never asks anybody for money, or perhaps have former nationally-known activists with checkered pasts to ask for it on their behalf—otherwise they’d be hypocrites.
At a time like this I’m reminded of the words of State Senator Kent Sorenson, who wrote on his Facebook page back in January regarding Mr. Scheffler’s treachery in another matter:
This is my third legislative session, and not once has the leader of the Iowa Christian Alliance/Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition ever contacted me about how to advance the agenda we both claim to support. Instead of criticizing those who share his agenda, perhaps he should proactively show leadership on the issues he tells his supporters and donors he is fighting for?
Now we know why Mr. Scheffler doesn’t have time to lead. He’s got more important matters to attend to. Next time, though, he should be a little more careful who sends these to.
