Steve and Jen ask which Rick Perry we should believe: Perry in his book (that came out just nine months ago), or Perry’s consultant, who says, “That was then, this is now.”

Hour two: Josh McDowell. The famed apologist (and who Steve wants to be when he grows up)  discusses “The Bare Facts” about the problems of porn and how to talk with your kids about sex.

Don’t believe what Rick Perry says (or writes).

    HE IS A LIAR!

I know it is so hard to believe that a politicians would ever lie.

  • Henry T.

Yeah, Deace was off base here.  He kept saying that the communications director was contradicting Perry’s convictions,  I would say that he was EXPRESSING Perry’s core convictions, in that Perry doesn’t have any core convictions.

I wouldn’t even be shocked if Perry didn’t actually write that book.

Again we must not look to what Perry says. He says different things to different audiences. For example when he was in front of Latinos he touted his appointment of Hispanics.

I doubt he told that fundraiser group he was at that one of his goals as President was to make racial based appointment choices.

So forget what Rick Perry says. Because he says one thing to Presidente Fox and then another thing to the Chinese and then another thing to Texan conservatives.

So you have to look to what Rick Perry has DONE in office. And I have and you have Beth listed at least, oh I don’t know how many but dozens and dozens specific examples of where Rick Perry’s walk doesn’t match his talk.  This is just his latest.

Rick Perry may talk like Mr. Conservative but he GOVERNS like a RINO!

And remember when he comes to Washington DC he will not have the Texas Legislature or the conservative nature of the Texan electorate to keep him “Honest” (as much as they were able to).  No, so to whatever degree he has been a RINO while in Texas you ain’t seen anything yet.

Remember George W Bush talked a good conservative game too.  But please don’t think I am comparing Perry to Bush. Perry is much, much worse.

    • Henry T.

Well I guess I was comparing Perry to Bush but not in the common easy since that they were both governors of Texas but just on how both talk conservative but you need to look to see if rhetoric meets reality.  One can sound conservative but not act conservative once in office.

If his communication manager said what Jen said he did, then if he isn’t fired, that will tell us a lot about Perry. Ok I listened to all of the show and Steve and Jen were saying same thing, ok I agree with them…

    Beth and Henry–

Steve and I do not assume Perry has a core biblical worldview. We never said that and you’ll never hear us say it. We do not assume. We go by “their fruit.” We were very clear during yesterday’s show to say this–political consultants often try to shape their candidates message to “win.” If the candidate allows them to do so, they obviously have no worldview except the desire to win or get power–and that applies to  Rick Perry as well.  What Perry does with this “communications consultant” will be very telling. I think if you listen to the broadcast, you’ll hear that loud and clear.
